I found it easier to space out than to focus. This morning, I tried to "focus". It's difficult. My thoughts were wandering from episode to episode. Some involving the same persons, others not. It's not as difficult as expected though, to breath. I was more uncertain about the posture, surprisingly. The Japanese author of the book recommended by a friend push very hard on the "right" way of the practice. Though he tried to acknowledge the individual differences in pursuing the goal, the style of his writing, at least, suggests the opposite. I'm more fond of the American guy's tutorials (Gil Fronsdal on Zencast). After all, in the new Buddhist temple, the Buddha has been put as sitting on a chair rather than in the lotus. I'm not totally convinced by its potential effects on my whatever they claim. The motivation to start practicing is the intake and thus the strength every time I gained from experimenting with the techniques. Well, I'll try again. I have my own issue to work on anyway.
Besides, I managed to get a copy of Dennett's book published in 2003. It's interesting. I started looking at the topic after watching the interview with Dennett by Robert Wright. Yes, I mentioned that in the previous blog. And in the book, there's clearly disagreement between the two guys. Picking put this book is because Dennett mentioned about the development of evitability among animals in the history of evolution. This is related to the Expectation topic that I'm working on. Below are some of my notes beside the lines of this book and I found them interesting.
1) Some said God is within us; But how about we are part of the God?
2) Quantum Physicists suggest randomness at the subatom level. But if my behaviours are truly random, how can I be responsible for the future I?
3) We've been considering the Yes and No options for the question of free will, but how if the answer can change over time? Same issue lies under other similar binary questions.
4) Be responsible. Beware of the environmental impact of your academic work. There is still a chance that along with the careful examination, one might still be wrong, either in the process or on the conclusions. Even when the statement is true, your words might still be misunderstood. Beside putting the truth as best, one should also do whatever necessary to ward off the dangerous misapplication of the statement by the uninitiated.
5) External awareness may happen far earlier than interval awareness. Knowing as a whole does not guarantee all its members informed. The contrast of awareness between the different biological levels sounds paradoxical. But seems it exists.
